ISSUES WE WILL TARGET

HOUSING

While there already exist a plethora of housing grants which attempt to cater to all walks of life, purchasing a public housing flat is nevertheless expensive. Moreover, property prices keep appreciating and the market demand for housing shows little indication of decreasing, making owning a house beyond the reach of most Singaporeans. We believe that in order to ensure that those with a lower or average income are not excluded, housing should be pegged at cost price rather than the whim of the property market, as the Government should not be looking to make a profit out of public housing.

TRANSPORTATION

Public transport fares are rising every year, but the satisfaction Singaporeans feel towards public transport have dropped, as compared to two years ago. In addition, middle-income Singaporeans rely heavily on public transport as it is a luxury for them to afford a car due to the rising costs of petrol and COE (Certificate of Entitlement). We advocate subsidized transportation fares based on net household income in order to make transportation more affordable and accessible.

UTILITY

We believe in the efforts the current government is taking in order to reduce water usage. However, by increasing water bills, which is a daily necessity, it will be difficult for the middle-income to afford in the long run, despite some households being subsidised. We want to create a prepaid utility service to give Singaporeans more control and provide an alternative payment option to support household budgeting and decision making.
